24.02.08:

S/Y Goxsheim is now back in Bodø, her home port. In Bodø we'll do day trips, do the required maintenance - and hopefully have some days off before the summer season starts with 7 days trips between Tromsø and Svolvær in Lofoten. Se our Departures 2008 for more info.

The 2008 Ski and Sail season is over. We have made 11 weeks of Ski and Sail with 12 different groups this year. During these 11 weeks we have had 93 guests from 10 countries on board, sailed approximately 1600 nautical miles, skied 23 different mountains, visited 13 ports, stayed by anchor in other places, used the sauna, had a swim in the 3,5 degrees cold C sea,  eaten reindeer stew, bacalao, pasta, “boknafisk”, fish dumplings, other fish dishes, sausages, , desserts, fruit, snacks, bread, soups, spread, mussli and more, seen tumblers, harbour porpoises, lots of birds, experienced all kinds of weather (from bright sunshine with 17-18 degrees C late April till May 17th's 3 degrees and sleet in Tromsø), met other skiers, vessels - all in all had quite a lot of fun. Next year is already nearly fully booked. We’ll start the season February 14th and end May 23rd. Weeks available as it looks now are the last week of February and the first week of March. If you would like to book with us, please get in touch.

So we have finally decided: There will be no Killer Whale Trips next autumn. We are very sorry for this, but since it seems that the whales are leaving the area - after having come back every autumn for the last 15 - 20 years - we find it irresponsible to continue these trips. But - we have come up with something that is maybe just as interesting: A Kamchatka King Crab and Northern Lights trip in the Varanger area in the county of Finnmark, not far from the Russian border. A real wildlife and cross cultural experience! So check the menu to the left for more info about the trips and dates.

Our first Sail and ski trip 2008 was finished yesterday. Even though the weather was a bit changeable and the skiing challenging because of the avalanche danger, Espen managed to guide our guests to some really great skiing experiences. Actually one of the days was described as one of the all time highlights with the best rebound powder from the very summit to the shore. Unforgettable! Let’s hope that the season continues like that.
